Adani Transmission Receives LOI For Centre Sector Transmission Project In Gujarat
Adani Transmission Limited (ATL), the largest private sector power transmission company operating in India, has received the LOI from REC Transmission Projects Company Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd.) to build, own, operate and maintain the transmission project in the state of Gujarat for a period of 35 years.
The project "WRSS XXI (A) Transco Limited" consists of approximately 272 ckt kms of 765kV line and 3000 MVA transformation capacity. This project is primarily being constructed to strengthen the Transmission System for relieving over loadings observed in Gujarat Intra-State System due to renewable energy Injections in Bhuj PS. This project has been awarded to ATL through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding Process. With this win, the cumulative transmission network of ATL will reach around 14,215 ckt kms of transmission line and 23,280 MVA transformation capacity, out of which approximately 11,347 ckt kms and 18,330 MVA is under steady state operation including the benchmark distribution network serving about 3 million customers in Mumbai.
This win in the state of Gujarat will not only help the Company re-enforce its position as the largest private sector transmission company operating in India but also allow the Company to contribute towards infrastructure development of the state and country. The win also takes the Company closer to its ambitious target of setting up 20,000 ckt km of transmission lines by 2022. The project will bolster the pan India presence of the company and should also bring in the benefits of economies of scale to the business in India.
