Vikas Ecotech Forays Into Heat Stabilizer Segment For Flexible PVC Applications
Vikas Ecotech Limited, one of India's fast-growing speciality chemicals company announced its foray into the heat segment for flexible PVC applications with the introduction of non-toxic and eco-friendly Calcium-Zinc (CaZn) heat stabilizers. These additives are primarily used in the manufacture of flexible PVC applications such as cables, soft hoses, toys, healthcare products etc. This range of products has a high potential in view of the Indian PVC industry steadily phasing out toxic-metal based stabilizers such as lead.
This will be the second green stabilizer offering from the Vikas Ecotech stable. Vikas Ecotech is a market leader in lead-free Organotin stabilizers for PVC applications both in India and export markets. This product will complement the existing offerings and open another business avenue for the company.
Vikas Ecotech is India's only indigenous manufacturer of Methyl Tin Mercaptide (MTM) or Organotin stabilizers. These are extremely effective and efficient heat stabilizers used in the processing of rigid & plasticized PVC. With the addition of CaZn stabilizers to its range of speciality additives, the company will now cater to more segments of the PVC processing industry.
CaZn stabilizers are the third most widely used heat stabilizers in India, following the lead and tin-based ones. Currently, the market for this additive is import-dependent with around 70-80% of the requirements being met from other countries.
The trial production of CaZn stabilizers had begun in December 2017 while the commercial production will commence in February 2018. The company has installed this manufacturing unit at its primary manufacturing facility in Shahjahanpur, Rajasthan with a capex of INR 10 crore. This facility has a potential to generate INR 60-70 crs of revenue at full capacity.
