Tamil Nadu Planning Rooftop Solar Plants & Solar-powered E-Charging Units
Tamil Nadu will develop 50 MW solar power projects with investment of Rs. 250 Cr in the state during 2020-21 to promote solar power . The government also declared that over ₹750 crore worth projects including rooftop solar units, implementation of prepaid meters and other customer-friendly initiatives for 2020-21. To ramp up the revenues in electricity department TANGEDCO will install prepaid meters in all state government organisations with an outlay of Rs. 390 Cr. The state government also developing 10-MW wind-solar hybrid plant at Kayathar in Thoothukudi district with cost a of Rs. 75 Cr in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency and National Institute of Wind Energy. TN government is planning a modern E-Vehicle charging station using solar power on a government campus. This EV charging station will provide slow and fast charge features. Depending on the result of this model, the government will increase the number of such stations.
