NTPC MoU With CPCB To Set Up Air Quality Monitoring Stations
NTPC Limited on Wednesday declared consenting to an arrangement with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to offer budgetary help for establishment and authorizing of Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS).
NTPC will offer budgetary help of Rs 80 crore for establishment of 25 CAAQMS across six states and three Union Territories. The CAAQMS will be introduced in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Patna (Bihar), Varanasi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad (all in Uttar Pradesh), Pimpri – Chinchwad (Maharashtra) and Madurai (Tamil Nadu). Alongside these urban areas, CAAQMS will likewise be introduced in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Port Blair, Silvassa and Daman).
Information gathered from these stations will be utilized as contributions for Air Quality Index assessment for the separate urban areas.
