Ministry Of Jal Shakti Announced Linking Project For Godavari And Kaveri River
The draft Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Godavari(Inchampalli/Janampet) – Cauvery (Grand Anicut) interface venture comprising of 3 connections viz., Godavari (Inchampalli/Janampet) - Krishna (Nagarjunasagar), Krishna (Nagarjunasagar) - Pennar (Somasila) and Pennar (Somasila) – Cauvery (Grand Anicut) connect ventures has been finished by National Water Development Agency (NWDA) and sent to party States in March 2019.
According to the draft DPR, around 247 TMC can be redirected from Godavari waterway to Nagarjunsagar dam(through lifting) and further south for satisfying the needs of Krishna, Pennar and Cauvery bowls. According to the draft DPR, the expense of the task has been assessed as Rs.60361 Crore at 2018-19 value level by NWDA.
The phase of usage of a venture would be come to after DPR is set up with the agreement of concerned States and the essential statutory clearances are gotten. Pooling of assets is chosen after fulfillment of last DPR.
