Meghalaya CM Surveys Mendipathar Railway Station For Setting Up Facilitation Centre
After the Northeast Frontier Railway approved of the setting up of Facilitation Centre (Entry and Exit point) at the State’s only Railway Station at Mendipathar Chief Minister Conrad Sangma visited Mendipathar Railway Station on Monday where he made a survey for laying of the construction of facilitation Centre in the district.
He informed that the commissioning of the facilitation centre is necessitated to detect issue of influx and illegal immigration in the region.
After discussion with the PWD (B) the Chief Minister was told that the work process has been finalized and the DPR is in the final stage is expected to be completed soon. He also issued directions to the concerned departments to proceed with the financial payment and begin the construction work.
With the setting up of the facilitation centre in the region, Conrad hoped that there will not be any issue of influx in the near future.
During his visit, he also took stock of the benefits of railway services rendered upon the people especially the local traders which have enormously eased their troubles of their day to day conveyance.
Few proposals were made to the CM by the District Administration, North Garo Hills for extending railway connectivity beyond Mendipathar for the convenient of the general public and of improving utility of railway services.
