Indraprastha Gas Plans To Set Up Gas Meter Manufacturing Unit
Indraprastha Gas Ltd planning to set up a gas meters manufacturing unit in the national capital region with investment of 100 Crore. The capacity of the unit will be 1 million gas meters per year. At present, gas meters are generally imported from China and we felt there is a requirement for a household producing unit to cut dependence on imports and lift 'Make in India', Managing Director E S Ranganathan said. IGL, which retails CNG and PNG in the national capital region, is in talks to finalise a partner for the metering unit. "We are in the advanced stage of talks," he said without elaborating. The company will invest Rs 50 crore in plant and machinery and the remaining in land and building. IGL supplies compacted natural gas (CNG) to more than 11 lakh vehicles in the national capital district through a system of CNG stations. It additionally sells PNG to more than 12 lakh family unit kitchens in the national capital and abutting towns.
