Government Planning To Boost Local Mobile Manufacturing
The government is working on Rs 42,000 crore plan to ramp up the local mobile phone production capacity under Make in India initiative. As per report published by TOI, the production-linked incentive scheme will give benefit to high end mobile manufacturers and domestic makers. The scheme will avoid Indian manufacturers dependence from China. According to the report, the scheme will help global giants like Apple and Samsung's high end offerings. The contract manufacturers Foxconn and Wistron etc & domestic manufacturers like Lava and Micromax will also have benefits under this scheme.
The plan will be pertinent to devices with receipt estimation of $200 or more, in this manner barring a sizeable number of phone creators like Vivo, Oppo from the ambit of the scheme. These organizations do not offer telephones which are valued as high as $200 or more.
