Amount Sanctioned To Start Arjun Sahayak Irrigation Project
The Government of India has given its consent to start work on the Arjun Sahayak Irrigation Project. The objective is to strengthen irrigation system in Bundelkhand. The total cost of the project is estimated to be over Rs. 188 crore.
The Minister of State for Fallow Land Development (Independent Charge), Shri Upendra Tiwari, gave this information. He said that the amount of cost to be spent on implementation of Command Area Development and Integrated Water Encatchment Management Programme form the central government’s share of Rs. 7994.20 lakh and the state government’s share of Rs. 10902.437 lakh. He said that the project would be completed by the year 2019-20. On completion, it will provide irrigation facility in a land area of 44381 hectares, benefitting farmers of Hamirpur and Mahoba districts.
